March 2012

Easter has come around rather quickly this year and it is pleasing to see so many of our
members taking to the water in time for the first race – and two boats over the
start line as the gun went, this bodes for a really competitive season.

The RNLI supper was held in March and was well supported by our members so well done
everyone that came to this function.

Tickets are now available for our joint clubs Olympic ball in June so please get your
tickets now as we have a limited supply.

Ramsgate Week: It’s that time of the year when we go from panic to blind panic and hope that we can put on another spectacular week of racing for our visitors. We are very conscious that we have not managed to secure a major sponsor for the regatta in 2012. It’s hardly surprising and we are having to reign in the costs and to think outside of the box to attract competitors for this years regatta.

To help I would appreciate everyone just spending a few minutes asking themselves if they
know of a potential company that might get some benefit through being involved in Ramsgate Week. If you do have a contact please let Carol Jackson have details and we can follow up and keep you informed with progress.

The good news is that we are seeing a slightly higher level of activity and entries are up
for the time of year. This is encouraging and the feedback indicates it may well be due to people not wanting to go to the more expensive regattas on the South coast this year.

With the new season just starting I would like to wish everyone success in their plans for
cruises, and their racing programmes for the summer. It is important that the racing fleet (all
classes) support the other regattas this year its by far the best way to get competitors to come back and join us in our regattas.
